You want me to vote for you????
As some of you may know, there's a Canadian federal election on Jan 23, 2006. Recently, the polls are stating that the Conservatives are leading the polls and they will probably win a minority government. I'm not sure how reliable polls so I'll assume for now that they do give a good indication of how the election will turn out come voting day. I have to admit that I'm not a big Conservative fan. From the policies they propose, I don't feel they are attacking the important issues of today. Hell, Stephen Harper is the guy that decided that he should apologize to America for all Canadians because we decided against helping in the Iraq war. Anyways, I'm also not happy with the Liberal party because of the scandals that have been revealed in the media. How can you waste so much of the hard-earned tax payers money when so many areas in our country *NEED* financial support. Although I have not decided who I will vote for yet, I think I would rather have the Liberal party in power than a Conservative government.
So let me get to my real story. I was sitting in my pijamas listening to some music when someone knocked on my door. I haven't combed my hair yet so I grabbed my Playstation 2 baseball cap and put it on. As I open the door, some guy hands me a red pamphlet and says "Hi, I'm representing Jim Peterson from the Liberal party and we're here to ask for your support and answer your questions". Hmm, I really just wanted to get rid of them but I thought it would be irresponsible of me to not ask anything. I decide to ask some question about what the Liberal's plans are on the future of public transportation. I'm expecting an answer like "we will be investing 500 trillion dollars ...." but that's not what I got. This guy starts saying something like "the Liberals are all for public transportation" and then eventually shows me his subway tokens. Then another guy who was knocking on my neighbour's door comes by and says "Liberals love public transportation" or something similarly meaningless. The first guy was having a hard time expressing his thoughts and I found it painful to listen to him. At the end of it all, he tells ms "well I have to go...". What the hell?? This is how you want to push your party? Someone wants to ask you questions and you go off running? Why would you say you are here to answer my questions but then tell me that you have to go? Shouldn't you be trying to convince the voters who haven't decided yet? If elected, you are suppose to be representing the people but you won't even listen to them when you need them the most!! You want me to vote for you???!!
It's ironic isn't it?? I really wanted them to leave originally but I felt bad for them. I thought they would want people to show interest but really they just wanted to hand out their precious little flyer!
Note, I'm not trying to convince you to vote for one party or another....I just wanted to share my experience.
