Finally I did it!
Finally, after 9 and a half years at my job, I resigned. It felt sooooooooo good. I was a bit hesitant because I was trained to think that it would be stupid to quit without finding another job. The problem was that I felt too comfortable there and I couldn't bring myself to update my resume and hunt for a new job. Also, I really didn't want to jump back into another job in my field since I couldn't wipe out the feeling that I may be bored there as well....so this went on for a LONG TIME! I would tell my friends that I want to quit and they would say "You've been saying that for years" or "You said that the first day I met you!". Well finally, I found the solution. Why go straight back to work? I wanted to experience what it was like to live overseas and study another language. Well I decided to go to Beijing. Originally I thought that I would learn Mandarin first and then jump to Japan to learn some Japanese, however, with the short time I had to organize everything, I decided that I should take it a bit slow and do one language for now and see how it goes. I finally decided to go to the Beijing Culture and Language University and will be starting on March 25. I'm so excited because this is probably going to be one of the biggest challenges in my life. I currently do not understand or speak Mandarin (well I know a couple words but not enough to form many sentences). Once I found out I got accepted last Thurs (Feb 16), I printed out my resignation letter and resigned early Friday morning. You know what? It felt GREAT. I had the biggest smile on my face. I felt so good that day and all my stress and pain just slowly vanished...it was incredible. I felt alive. I'm now ready for my new challenges...I know it will be tough but I'm ready to face them. Wish me luck! Hopefully when I'm down there, I'll be blogging more to share my adventures with you all.
Thanks Illusion and Chocobo for calling Beijing for me to figure out if I was accepted.
Anyways, I just thought I would share this feeling. I feel good! Enjoy life!
